Ricky Romain’s large painted canvases, and small works on paper, explore issues connected to diversity and Diaspora, with Human Rights acting as a broad focus.
The highly successful collaborative exhibitions at Tooks Chambers and at the Amnesty International building in 2007 have enabled this artist to forge strong links with organizations that are at the forefront of tackling Human Rights abuses and to exhibit his work outside the usual gallery setting. The placing of his large and powerful paintings where he is able to directly engage in potent and meaningful discussion about the nature and relevance of his imagery, encourages a two way ‘interactive’ dimension to his process.
The exhibition at the Council of Europe building will be a continuation of this valuable and insightful way of sharing art and ideas.
